Below are the established ways to qualify for Nationals Competition.

The current list of Qualified Lifters can be found here: 2025 US Grip Championships Qualified Lifters

We are in the process of establishing Women's, Master's, and Junior's qualifications means, as well.  As a reminder, it was announced that 2024 would be the last year that Women automatically qualified by competing in a sanctioned GSI Contest.  Once fully developed, the new Qualifications will be added below.

Qualification Chance 1:

During the current GSI season, athletes who:

•   Finish in the top third of their weight class in a GSI-sanctioned contest (explained directly below).
•   Finish in the top third of overall standings in a GSI-sanctioned contest (explained directly below).

There must be a minimum of three competitors in a weight class in order for someone to qualify.

The number of qualified competitors will be rounded down where required.

Example:

If there is 1 competitor in a class, no one qualifies;

If there are 2 competitors in a class, no one qualifies;

If there are 3 competitors in a class, the winner qualifies;

If there are 4 competitors in a class, the winner qualifies;

If there are 5 competitors in a class, the winner qualifies;

If there are 6 competitors in a class, the top 2 qualify;

If there are 7 competitors in a class, the top 2 qualify;

If there are 8 competitors in a class, the top 2 qualify;

If there are 9 competitors in a class, the top 3 qualify;

If there are 10 competitors in a class, the top 3 qualify;

In the case of multi-venue contests, qualifications are calculated based on the entire field of competitors (not just the competitors at a given venue).

“Season” is defined as the time between United States Championships. For example, the 2024-25 season began on April 7th, 2024 and concludes with the 2025 United States Championship in 2025.  If a competition falls on the date of Nationals, it will produce qualifiers for the following season.

As the NAGS Committee will not necessarily be actively tracking this list, it is the competitor’s responsibility to alert member of the Committee when elite status is achieved.

Since I could not make it this year, I am not automatically qualified from attending this year as I usually am.  Is it still the case that Masters (over 50) automatically qualify?  It doesn't matter to me one way or the other; I will have no problem submitting feats, if needed, just want to know if I will need to.

We have plans to update everything for Masters and Juniors as well.  I will edit the thread.

Is there a specific website or social media account I can follow for an official list of GSI sanctioned events for the upcoming season? Or should I just keep looking at the forums here?

Thanks

I have a GSI Weekly Newsletter that goes out every Thursday at 3pm.  That's the easiest way.  Just email me at jedd.diesel@gmail.com

I have gotten back control of the GSI website, and plan to add events to the calendar there, but with Nationals and my various businesses, I have not done so yet.  But it will happen down the line.
