This is something I've been thinking about for a while.

Started collecting Pieces of the puzzle for about six months.

Change the idea about two or three times. And this is how it ended up.

The final weight of this dumbbell is 154 pounds unloaded. 2 inch threaded rod. it will take 25 pound plates and lower. You can lock them down with a nut .screw the endcap back on and the way you go

That is awesome man!

What size pipe caps are on the ends?

is it 2”npt pipe for a handle and a 2” stud for loading plates on? I might try to copy this.

I guess the caps just need to be big enough to fit whatever plates you need obviously your will fit a 25lbs plate.

Damn that looks awesome and bulletproof. Works just like some of the high end adjustable kettlebell, solid idea. Though it definitely would have been funnier if you accidentally made it heavier than the inch

The caps are 12 inch , 2 inch threaded rod. the threaded rod go's through the handle and I plug welded the handle to the rod. As well as welding the rod the handle to the caps inside and out, this way it is one solid piece.

Not really sure we haven’t tried yet, but I know you could at least get 4 25 pound plates on each side
