Just Bent A 16d Nail

Nail Pic

This thing was tough due to it being so small.

It's 3 and 1/2 inch's long and 3/16th in diameter.

This thing was a lot tougher than the 5 inch cut of 3/16th crs I bent last night.

Has anyone else here tried to bend a nail this short or am I just crazy ?

now you need to go for the 2.5" nails of the same diameter! (8d or 12d? can't remember)

i bend these all the time. they're easy to carry around, and because of the short length, even people with strong wrists can't put a kink in them. i use a completely different bending style then i do for 60d's or anything longer.

anyways, they're fun to show off for people when i'm in the mood for that sort of thing.

nice bending!

Thanks for the info Jeff.

I will have to pick up some 8d's next time I go to the hardware store.

Nice bend Travis!

I've never tried a 16D, but will have to pick some up next time I hit the hardware store.

Thank you Eric.

They are a tough little sucker becuase they are so small.

Terry Duty's chart list them as only taking 50 pounds to bend but I think they are harder than the Ironmind Green nail due to their length.

The 16Ds I have must be quite a bit weaker than the ones ya'll have (they are finishing nails). One is very easy, two a bit easier than an IM white, 3 like an IM yellow or so and four is very hard.
