Natural Stone Lifting

Recommended Posts

Recently came across this guy's channel, Laird Ross, who does natural stone lifting as well as various other forms of powerlifting and grip training. He's built like a total behemoth.

Thought it was really cool and worth sharing. As long as form, mobility, and injury prevention are top notch, this seems like a potentially fun element to add to future training.

Great find and thanks for sharing. Yep, built like an absolute unit. Natural stone lifting is similar to sandbag lifting - basically a big, awkward object with very little ergonomy. The centre of gravity of the object is far from being aligned with yours and, it's hard to hold onto. I'm convinced that sandbag or stone lifting is one of the most beneficial types of training.

What a coincidence.. I'm doing a big addition on a house and just 30 seconds before I saw this thread I was thinking about asking our excavators to leave aside any big stones for me.  This year i'd like to add in stone lifting, in addition to my sandbag training. I already have a 180lbs stone.

Very cool stones John. The vertical bar makes it like the sword in the stone or excalibur 👍
