Bare Steel versus Powder Coat

Like the title says - how much difference do you find between an unseasoned bare steel Axle and/or Saxon Bar and one that is Powder Coated.  Somehow I can't remember ever using a Powder Coated bar of any kind?

Pretty huge- like maybe 50+ lb or more depending on how slick the coating material. This problem gets worse for a climate like you guys have in Midwest with high humid summers and wet winters. To me powder coated anything for pinch is a big loss of opportunity and only good if it’s meant to be a challenge weight like maybe the gym blob or something. For training bare steel is the way and for competition especially if you want to have comparable records over the years.

Edit - Chris I do not think powder coating on an axle is as bad of a problem for DOH and I have lifted at several strongman gyms owning a powder coated axle- my numbers basically the same. I previously thought seasoning on the axle mattered more but over the years I’ve come to think it’s a pretty tiny margin unless we are talking like brand new coat and it’s august in Ohio at 96 degrees and 95% humidity

Bare steel for big pinch numbers, no doubt!
