This was the hardest LGC comp ever!

(Written by Mikael Siversson)

1. Benny Wennberg (118.5 kg) 41p

2. Kalle Lane (128.8 kg) 35p

3. Jonas Svaren (108.6 kg) 34.5p

4. Mikael Siversson (81.3 kg) 31p.

5. Johan Albrektsson (97.5 kg) 28.5p.

6. Arne Persson (114.8 kg) 21.5p.

7. Stefan Ljungberg (95.1 kg) 12.5p.

8. Mario Sjögren (112.8 kg) 11p.

9. Sebastian Bengtsson (99.1 kg) 10p.

Total domination by Benny Wennberg. The man is simply very very strong. I am happy with my performance as I set several new PR's. A bad inflammation in my right arm prevented me from seriously challenge Kalle and Jonas. I have neglected my overall training (especially the biceps) too much and payed the prize. Not much to do about Benny though.

PR denotes new personal record in LGC competition

Grippers

(IM #2 rated at 2.00, IM #2 r.a. 2.28, IM #2 r.a. 2.45, PDA 359ip r.a. 2.62, IM #3 r.a. 2.80, IM #3 r.a. 3.00, BBE r.a. 3.22, BBE r.a. 3.38, BBE r.a. 3.48 (prelim. rating), BBSE 3.65 (prelim. rating).

1. Benny Wennberg 6.76 (3.38+3.38) new LGC record

2. Mikael Siversson 6.60 (3.38+3.22)

3. Jonas Svaren 6.38 (3.38+3.00) PR

4. Johan Albrektsson 6.02 (3.22+2.80)

5. Stefan Ljungberg 5.60 (2.80+2.80)

5. Kalle Lane 5.60 (2.80+2.80)

7. Arne Persson 5.08 (2.80+2.28) PR

8. Sebastian Bengtsson 4.62 (2.62+2.00) PR

9. Mario Sjögren 4.28 (2.28+2.00)

Two hand pinch (69 mm width set up)

1. Benny Wennberg 96 kg new LGC record

2. Jonas Svaren 95 kg PR

3. Mikael Siversson 88 kg PR

4. Kalle Lane 86 kg

4. Johan Albrektsson 86 kg PR

6. Mario Sjögren 83 kg

7. Sebastian Bengtsson 80 kg PR

8. Arne Persson 73 kg PR

9. Stefan Ljungberg 71 kg

Two men exceeding David Horne's previous LGC record. An indication of the standard in this competition these days. Benny did not have to use his fifth attempt. I am disappointed with 88 kg (although it is a new PR) as my one hand pinch training had gone very well. Had hoped for 89-91 kg. Kalle was a bit off his usual form in the pinch which enabled me to beat him for the first time.

Rolling Thunder

1. Kalle Lane 193 kg (100 right+93 left)

2. Benny Wennberg 187 kg (97+90) PR

2. Jonas Svaren 187 kg (95+92) PR

4. Johan Albrektsson 174 kg (89 righty+85 lefty)

5. Arne Persson 171 kg (93+78)

6. Mikael Siversson 170 kg (84+86)

7. Sebastian Bengtsson 155 kg (75+80)

8. Mario Sjögren 153 kg (83+70)

9. Stefan Ljungberg 0 kg (0+0)

Once again, total domination by Kalle. He lifted what he needed to win. Very good gains by Jonas.

Vertical bar (one inch diametre)

1. Benny Wennberg 295 kg (150 right+145 left) new LGC record

2. Mikael Siversson 287.5 kg (142.5+145) PR

3. Kalle Lane 285 kg (142.5+142.5) PR

4. Johan Albrektsson 280 kg (135+145) PR

5. Arne Persson 267.5 kg (137.5+130)

6. Jonas Svaren 255 kg (130+125) PR

7. Stefan Ljungberg 250 kg (127.5+122.5) PR

8. Mario Sjögren 247.5 kg (130+117.5) PR

9. Sebastian Bengtsson 0 kg (0+0)

Benny almost gave it away by going for 160 righty (and missing it) in his last lift instead of increasing his lead by going for 152.5 or 155. I lifted last and started by securing 145 lefty (new PR) before attempting 152.5 righty for the victory. I got it to about 3-4 cm. Beaten for the first time in the v-bar and I don't like it. sad.gif

Plate curl over a bench (about 80 degrees angle). Maximum angle allowed between underside of forearm and back of hand was about 30 degrees. Plate had to be perfectly in line with forearm. No tilt allowed. Lift finished at top position.

We used a 10 kg and a 15 kg plate to which we could add extra weight. Two ** denote 15kg-plate being used with both hands. One * denotes 15kg-plate being used with one hand.

1. Kalle Lane 37.5 kg** (18* right+19.5* left) new LGC record

2. Jonas Svaren 37 kg** (17*+20*) PR

3. Arne Persson 34 kg** (18*+16*)

3. Benny Wennberg 34 kg** (17*+17*) PR

5. Johan Albrektsson 32 kg** (16.5*+15.5*) PR

6. Mikael Siversson 29.5 kg* (14+15.5*) PR

7. Stefan Ljungberg 30.5 kg (15.5+15)

8. Mario Sjögren 28 kg (14+14) PR

9. Sebastian Bengtsson 27.5 kg (13.5+14) PR

Very solid performance by Kalle and Jonas. I did the 15 kg plate (with 0.5 kg added) for the first time (lefty). Righty a disaster as expected. Being a pussy I could not take the pain.

On European Championship next year we will change two events: Rolling Thunder will be replaced by One Hand Lift (nonrotating handle) and Platecurl will be replaced by bending.
