Cheap But Works

I have been fooling around with a pinch rig I made a few days ago from

material I had in my "Boneyard". Here is the discription

1-20 inch long allthread 1 inch diameter rod ( I say 20" 'cause that is what it was)

4- 1 inch nuts

2 standard 5lb. plates

I marked the center line at 10 inches then threaded 2 of the nuts to this point.

I loaded 2 5lb. plates, one on each side of these nuts. I threaded the remaining

nuts to the outside of the plates tightening the nuts against the plates and the inside nuts

The spacing of the plates measured measured 2 3/4 inches outside to outside

of the plates. The beauty of this rig is the adjustability of the plates to widen the gap

All you have to do is back the outside nuts off to your desired width move

the plates out and then thread your inside nuts to the plates and tighten. Only

requires hand tightening. No wrenches

Then you can load extra plates on the rod that extends from the outside nuts.

It is a solid one piece pinch rig. You can use 10 lbers or heavier if you want,

It is a simple adjustable width rig

Just some material I had taking up space :)

The difference in using this setup is when you widen the plates the less

finger mass you have touching the plates. At 4 1/2 inch width basically

only the last 3/4 of my fingers to the tips were able to do the pinch.

No palm was involved due to the open space between the plates.

So you might can name it a "claw pinch" Different from a Blob pinch

for sure
