Fibro229
Started training today on 20 07 2022. Tested these maxes today too. Somehow I am slightly stronger than when I made my initial thread in January. Did not train since. Hit: HG100 easy. HG150 easyish, maybe 10-12 reps, left is weaker, maybe 6. HG200 failed, like 3cm away lol. Grip dynamometer: Left 49kg Right 53.3kg Here is a video. First half is hg150 and 2nd half is hg200 failing. I am doing quick reps, could do much more, slowly tiring as camera angles were wrong each time, 6th time repping away lol. Please can anyone advise me on if my form is okay. Here I am trying to set the gripper, Lee Haywards outline. Am I setting it right? Do my hands look like they fit the gripper properly for training? (Sounds dumb, but grippers aren't a 1 size fits all, e.g, a 4ft lady vs Jeff Dabes mittens) Is hg150 for reps and failing hg200 normal for a guy just starting out? What were u at when you started grippers? Pictures taken in brothers room, standard unchangeable lighting no pump today on 20 07 2022. (Haven't trained in around 5 months since I hurt my finger tendons when doing pinky+ringed finger 1 arm claw grip pull ups) Haha. Will report back soon! Any advice? Thanks! Fibro229
I don't think I am setting it right? I read that the handle should be at the base of the fingers area (on the calluses), but when I do it, my thumb just shifts down and back. Am I meant to force my thumb forwards? Not sure if that's supposed to happen.

Not sure if that's supposed to happen. Your main problem is that you're not placing the gripper far enough up in your hand, you have your whole pinky on the handle. Which gives you worse leverage, making it harder to close the gripper. You need to use your upper body when setting grippers. It's not that important for you right now at that level but it becomes more important with harder grippers. So it's best to learn the technique from the start.
