gotenmyoou
Now everybody knows that blob works bigtime, but is there anyother equipment which is good as blobs. Since where I live (Japan) the Hex dumbell is very expensive. (about $300 for 60 pound dumbell)
smitty
Go to Stats page and get the BLOB dimensions Go to Junkyard and get small motor with same dimensions across the top Check out Rick Walker's album and he has the "poor man's blob" where he took a small motor and hung chains from it, worked for him
Digdogz
gotenmyoou, In the abscence of a blob for me, I have just got hold of some 'Block' weights that are like stage weights to hold heavy doors and stuff open. These have various pinch points and can be bloody heavy. I found mine at an old warehouse and had'em away with a 500m farmers dash you may say. Either way cheap and cheerful. Digz. mANVIL
I pinch using a large coffee can that i fill with concrete and small weights (lead shot, rocks or anything heavy would work) so its easy to adjust as you get stronger. Its cylinder shaped which is slightly different than the blob but it still works your wide pinch very well and is very cheap. I've also pinched metal ammo boxes which can easily be filled to various weights. Basically anything smooth, heavy and around 5 inches across will work -Matt
Griz
The one thing to remember, which Roark recently pointed out to me, is that even though your psuedo blob is 5.5 inches across if it is flat then it will still be significantly easier than a real blob. The flatness of your psuedo blob allows you hand to lay flatter against the object thus making it easier to lift. The slop of the real blob forces your hand to use the fingers vs the whole hand. I think the motor idea would be ideal. Good luck! Griz
OldGuy
Check with PDA about their loadable blobette, which is hollow and made to the dimensions of a York 50 lb blob. http://www.fractionalplates.com
