climber511
I emailed Robert Baraban and asked about wire size on his RB grippers and what lies between a COC#2 and a COC#3 - his reply is as follows. I hope he doesn't mind my shareing with the board. There are many more factors as only wiresize which have an effect on a Grippers strength. I have three Handgrippers to offer which are between the Strength of a COC No.2 and COC No.3 Gripper : 210lbs is approximatly a 2,3 240lbs is approximatly a 2,5 - 2,7 260lbs is approximatly a 2,7 - 2,9 All these Grippers have the same wiresize (7mm) The Strength is regulated with the wound ! The 210lbs has the biggest wound and the 260lbs the smallest wounding. They smaller the wounding (with the same wirediameter) they tougher is the Gripper to close . Now probably all you Gripboard vets knew that but I learned it today and thought I'd share the info with the other newbies. All I have to do now is figure out how to order them - for those of you here in the states - how long did it take you to get your grippers? climber511
My next question is this - for those of you who personally have the RB grippers - how accurate are those numbers?
JeffPeterson
It seems that if you get the chrome looking wires they are a little easier then if they were just black. Maybe it's just me but the sweep on all the RB chrome spring grippers I've tried are easy. The 240 and 260 were very close, but the 260 was a chrome spring. They were around an easy 3 Ithought. Bill Piche
Wire size is where it's at. That's my take. So, using the same wire size? And, with differing wire sizes it's hard enough.
Rick Browne
The 210, 240, 260 are about the same wire size give or take a .001 The 300 and 330 have a substantial jump in wire size from the above wire sizes. Each one is coiled in tightness difference.

Rick Browne
Be aware too that postage will be high and turn around time can be lengthy with the overseas providers...........
odin
Be aware too that postage will be high and turn around time can belengthy with the overseas providers........... I just ordered 3 RB grippers myself. I am sure the estimated 28-day wait will be worth it; I have been reading complimentary posts about them and also saw Bender's beautiful RBs on his website. You will find the staff (Daniel Hope) extremely helpful; he is also very prompt in returning emails and it has been a great experience so far. Don't forget that they also offer engraving, if you are so inclined. Bob
Rick Browne
Bob, If you do not mind, what is the postal rate for your RBs from England? Baraban`s rate is $20 for 1 gripper, $30 for 2 from Austria. I can assure you that you will find the quality to be superior!
