Rt Is The Loading Pin Counted In Weight?

I have had this question for a long time, when using loading pins for RT, RINGS, HUBS, BLOCKS, ect. is the loading pin counted in the weight lifted, or is it just the total of the plates lifted? I have seen it done both ways in contests and training- or is there really not a correct way? Thanks Mike

I don't think that there is a 'correct' way. At the Feats With Hands contest I only counted the weight of the plates, but as long as you are consistent in how you account for the weight, I don't think that it really matters. Since you mention the RT, it should be noted that IronMind only counts the weight of the plates in their RT contests.

Thanks for clearing that up, I had always been curious. I guess it is probably better to just count the weights anyway when training (just looking to a little ego boost)! Mike

When we use the RT we count the 6.25 lb. for the pin, or round it to 6 lb. if you will. Why not count it--after all you're lifting it. In any other lift you count the total weight lifted--you always include the weight of the bar itself when lifting a barbell. I realize that some people don't count the pin weight when lifting the RT, but it's not consistent with any other kind of lift commonly practiced. If you lift the weight, then count it. That's my motto. :blush

I have to agree, as OLDTIMER said, if you lift it count it. (I like that motto!). Mike
