Chez Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) I wasn't suppose to try grippers tonight because I trained them recently and even hit a little thick bar over the weekend so my hand wasn't fresh but I was feeling strong during a bench press workout tonight so I tried a #3.5 CCS close and I destroyed it. First time trying this since coming back from my injury. I haven't trained CCS in a long time so I fumbled the set a little. I CCS closed this gripper before the injury but never this easy. My crush is stronger than ever. I know fresh I can do even better. Not the best video because I used my phone so lots of motion blur and my buddy doesn't have much experience filming closes. I may try and cert at the gripmas comp this year in December. 4 more months to get even stronger. Crush is feeling dam strong! Stephen Ruby Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) Your speed during the close was ridiculous that was a powerful close. You had complete control of that gripper and didn't do any quick swipe at all that was as good as any CCS of a 3.5 I have seen. I know that the 3.5 cert has been a long time goal of yours so I look forward to seeing you conquer yet another legendary gripper feat. This is the year to get it done based on your current progress. Chez Posted August 9, 2018 Author Posted August 9, 2018 Thanks guys! In a great groove right now 8 hours ago, Hopefully said: Also goes to show the MMS - CCS carry over Yep. I have always told people that. Train mms because it’s the faster way to get better and it will trickle down to wider sets. 2 Quote "A lot of men train to be pretty, I train to be the strongest man in the world, then again I'm already pretty." -Magnus Samuelsson "You don't have to be fat to be strong!" - Svend Karlsen "I know it doesn't just come from playing with yourself" - Svend Karlsen talking to Magnus Samuelsson about closing the COC #4. I have harder ones I’ll try next. I had no idea this would be so easy since I have done no ccs training since returning from injury. I may have a shot at TNS closing this one on a good day. Fist of Fury Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Very impressive Chez. I'm sure you'll get the cert very soon if you keep this up. How many times have you closed the #3.5 with CCS? I think I've seen you CCS close a GHP8 as well if my memory is correct? 1 Quote

Before the injury my max ccs close was my RB 280 which rated 174 and it was super wide at just over 3 inches. I would say I have only done a 3.5 ccs like 5 times really. Part of the reason is that I don’t train it until the time comes and I have been focused so much on getting my mms level way above cause I know it will trickle down to higher ccs levels. I’m actually going back to mms now until November before gripmas when I’ll practice it right before the cert attempt at gripmas just so it’s smooth and automatic. Never ccsed my ghp 8 but I should try now that I’m stronger. I have certified on it with the ghp block though before the injury Edited August 10, 2018 by Chez 1 Quote "A lot of men train to be pretty, I train to be the strongest man in the world, then again I'm already pretty." -Magnus Samuelsson "You don't have to be fat to be strong!" - Svend Karlsen "I know it doesn't just come from playing with yourself" - Svend Karlsen talking to Magnus Samuelsson about closing the COC #4.
