Andrew Dube
Hey guys I've been thinking about building a euro after talking with @JHenze646 at SJ4 about some design features which would make it easier to use. He mentioned that Aaron had built or designed one that used single inserts for each different size rather than adding up a bunch of spacers. This is something I'd like to do with mine. But I'm not very familiar with the device. I'm wondering if anyone knows the minimum and maximum widths and what sort of graduation is typical. I'm thinking 3mm or 1/8" should be sufficient and be easier to find a suitable material. If finer adjustments are necessary it's probably not possible to get away from having at least a second spacer.
acromegaman
I would think that hitting 2mm increments from the min to the max would be desirable. Especially if you are planning on using it for comps. It shows in the picture what David's comes with

I'm thinking 50 is probably the smallest anyone would want to go except maybe some juniors.

I don't know about a min restriction but I'm pretty sure people have pinched in the 40s at comps I have attended.
Cannon
I believe the minimum is 18mm. The two plates and one thin rubber. I don't believe it's allowed to pinch plate to plate.
Allen Heineck
NAGS site indicates min width is 24mm. Two outer disc and two spacers.
climber511
To get the most accurate response - I would go straight to the source - David Horne. He has always gone out of his way to answer any questions about his device and any rules.
Andrew Dube
Thanks for the replies! Probably be a while before I build anything as I have some more pressing projects. I'll update this thread when I do.
Mikael Siversson
There was never any serious discussion on maximum widths when DH sent me drawings of prototypes for comments back in 2004. We just sort of assumed that no one would need to go above 64mm. Makes no sense whatsoever to have an upper width limit. The whole point with the Euro is that people should be able to select their optimum width. For some (but not many) 64mm or even 70mm might not be enough. climber511
At Gripmas I allow any width that can be made with 4 thick and 3 thin rubber spacers (and the two steel obviously). There are widths that no combination of those spacers can make though.
