Gabriel O'Keeffe
Took part in an awesome hub comp at Jared's house. And of course we did lots of lifting on other implements as well, as happens every time. Lots of open hand, crusher, WW, pinch.

Gabriel O'Keeffe
Haha, make that a case of Deschutes Black Barrel Porter my friend Seriously though it's good incentive to have direct competition to get to the inch!
Gabriel O'Keeffe
12/7 Random gripper closes. But much more fun: tried sledge finger walks for the first time. I think this might be my new favorite forearm torture. I might want to find my 8lb hammer though, the 16lb hammer gets heavy real fast.

Especially if you weren't hooking it.

Thanks Ben! I hooked at 315 with r hand but then changed my hold on it a little and pulled that with both hands. 335 pulled normal grip but it definitely wasn't going any heavier, I feel like half my body cramped. I definitely have the utmost respect for the strength of those who have pulled the real Dinnie stones. This might be my next obsession after I lift the inch. I think I'll go for the shorter loading pin next time I play with this. 12/15 8lb sledge, pronation/supination, back lever/front lever 2x10 each hand, finger walks x3 each hand

I see that @mobsterone hits this one at times, so I am sure there is. I can't find it though. I don't know what the record for this is in competition. Even the USAWA doesn't do a one handed variation of this in competition. They do the "Dinnie Lift" - which uses two rings. Steve will invariably know more than I do. He seems to know it all.

I have to check more or less every time now as I rarely make a note or remember lol. I really shopuld make a list. DINNIE RING LIFT - for reps (90 secs) 187k large, or 146k small stone with respective replica rings/apparatus. Male (120k+) - 187kg x 22 reps Steve Gardener - 8 May 2010 Gloucester, England No hook grip us allowed. 187kg is 411.4lbs I beat Jim Wylie on this (he'd started to bleed with a skin tear - the crowd went mental) and had time to do another rep but had won the whole thing so stopped here.
Gabriel O'Keeffe
That's absolutely amazing Steve, I can read those numbers but I can't comprehend actually lifting that weight that many times on a ring. That's an inspiration when I start working towards Dinnie stone goals. 12/17 at the house of @Jared Goguen Trilobite rolling handles: 3" up to 126, 2.5" up to 146, 2" up to...something above 160, I think. I didn't ask for the camera when I should have Euro 2hp somewhere past 150 [first time] bent a blue nail in IMP singles extensor work at home. Good tiring day.

Any technique change, or did you just have more strength than the last time you tried it? Thanks! I think a little bit of both, Ben. I learned some technique at the first local meetup I went to, plus I'm definitely just stronger. I'm going to start doing it on a weekly basis to complement Inch training and RT. I'm a few pounds from being a 105kg and I think a little more practice will put me in the range where I can use it as a qualifier for nationals.
