I figured I'd do my write up for the hold fast grip competition here even though I haven't updated this log in a while. This was my first grip competition and it was awesome! Having it at Jedds made it that much more cooler. He had any kind of grip implement you can imagine. I have just started back up with grip after bending exclusively for the last couple of months, so I have much room for improvement but overall I was happy with my performance.

Event 1: grippers

This was my best event, I came in with a goal of closing a 150# gripper and I was able to do it on my fourth attempt. Never used a 20mm block before but it wasn't too bad.

Event 2: 2HP

First time ever using a 2HP device, I really like the way it feels and am going to try and make one to practice on. Ended up getting 148# on my last attempt, this was definitely my weakest area.

Event 3: sledge dead lift

I didn't think I was going to like this event but it turned out to be really fun, I missed 14" on my third attempt but came back on my fourth and got it, I was super pumped, again haven't really ever trained this but this is something that can be easily added into the routine.

Event 4: medley

This was pretty fun. I missed the WD and a 35# blob which I was really frustrated about. They had a pops grip machine,I never used it before so I was looking forward to trying it, but the handles were huge, too big to be useful imo. If it would have normal sized handles I would recommend it over the IM plate gripper since the pops gripper can use bands, but the handles ruin it.

Event 4: fat grips hold

Pretty cool event, tried 400 and got a little air then made my attempt on 350, held it for like 2 or 3 seconds.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone there, great people, the drive up was really pretty, the food afterwards was great. Just had a great weekend. Many thanks to Jedd and his family for running a great competition.
