DW85 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 After being humbled repeatedly trying my hand at blob lifting... I've decided to put all my grip efforts towards wide pinch/blob work...Started out only being able to get a half 90 fatman york lift here and there...Just recently traded for a half 95 fatman that weighs 48 lbs. Was able to get some successful lifts last night along side some near misses..."Hand mechanics wise, wide pinch has been tough for me. Working towards a full half 100 fatman lift some day....slow and steady..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjgBFyXFLCE Tried a double blob DL at the end of the work out...Left hand slipped a little on the way down...Half 95 Fatman (48#) Righty, Half 95 2nd gen (47#) Lefty...Left has some catching up to do...Any pointers or tips welcomed.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl2hf51WfxI 2 Quote
slazbob Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I found great results lately, using the index & middle fingers of both hands: I add 20lbs to the blob...with some small plates and some rope; then pinch with my thumbs on the handle side. I'll finish with this kind of work...I pinch it up, set it on top of another block weight, then set it down on the floor, and repeat until I can't get it on the block. I'll switch it up this week, and use the ring & pinkie's. If that don't work for a PR, I'd be very surprised. 1 Quote
wobbler Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Something that made an immediate improvement for me is to grip the blob further back, so when you lift it tilts your hand down/forward. Squeeze quick and lift up, the skin on your thumb stretches a bit. Then when it comes off the ground and tilts forward, the skin rotates and stretches 90 degrees from when you initially grabbed. That seems to lock things in pretty well for me. 1 Quote

Sounds pretty intense....Those mini lifts at the end are probably a killer...Thanks for the input.
