Beer Crushing Wars!

A friendly battle has ensued between Jared and I. It started with a video of him bursting a beer can like a BOSS with his hands, and naturally... I took this as a direct challenge lol

It works like this..

Some cans are made tougher than others, so I'll upload a video of me crushing a can (probably Coors Light 16oz can) and challenge anyone to match the feat with the same can.

The cans that are being crushed must be a nation wide brand so that all people could participate.

There cant be a challenge done by the same person twice in a row.

Before we decide how to choose who gets to issue the challenge next or what time frame to have the challenge in, lets just see how this first one plays out.

Hey Jared, I was interested to see how you used the TTK-type machine with those kind of microreps. Is that how you always train with it? Just kind of a burn out? I've never enjoyed using a TTK because the ROM feels horrible to my thumb joints even at light weight. And I never considered small reps like that because I figured it would not be effective. But you do seem to have a good thumb pad and you're saying you added size to it, so I'm wondering if that was accomplished with those kinds of reps.

On a side note, that picture of Jared is freaking awesome.

Yeah I mostly do a ton of mini reps with a reasonable weight, like the range is between 1/2" and 1". Also my DIY TTK is much larger then the Ironminds one so 25lbs on feels way harder. I think it has play a role in getting a bigger thumb pad, it certainly hasn't hurt me any.

Nice.

Thanks, I love old logging equipment.

I find the TTK has a sweet spot that feels right rep-range wise depending on hand size. I have bigger hands so full range isn't a problem but about 1/4" into the range feels like a better starting point. Some people would likely have to hyperextend to do the full range which would be bad news. As for micro reps and their impact, just like with any movement if you load up a specific range that range will get stronger, I've not tried it for size but it could work for hypertrophy given the right amount of weight and reps.

Im shocked that you guys would waste some perfectly good happy juice! Lol

I'm having the same dilemma, I mean it is alcohol abuse isn't it?

Wasn't he just going for an accurate representation? Sanity is overrated!

This will be fun to watch for sure.

Awesome crush. I have never been able to chest crush a can so you have me beat there for sure.

It kinda looked like you were pushing with your thumbs next to each other rather then one on top of another.

This looks fun. Not sure I possess the penetrating thumb strength for Jared's version but I might be able to do the other one and the leg version. Sick crush fellas.

Hmmm makes me wonder if I could crush some cans without using the thumb technique. Just crushing with the palms.

Most likely is my guess. I sure as hell don't have the upper body strength for it.

Thanks dude! 12oz cans are super hard for me cause the can wall has less flex. I get these cans of tonic water which feel like a break.

I'm looking forward to the epic intro and video that I know you will make. I could see you bear hugging a pony keg until it explodes or something.

Still have to go to my local Bottle King to pick up the Camo Black Ice but I already have the next beer I'm going to crush! 50/50 chance I may have bit off more than I could chew. haha
