korasick
I am going to purchase some heavy grips and file them down to train beyond the normal range. Will any metal file do the trick, and how much should I file off? Thanks for your reply
exarmy
use a grinder, it's much quicker and easier. I would take off 3mm from each handle to start with
Justin Matney
Yep a bench grinder or even a dremel is going to be so much faster.
anwnate
use a grinder, it's much quicker and easier. I would take off 3mm from each handle to start with I've only filed a few grippers, but the one time I filed from both sides I found they wouldn't meet properly (due to the way your hand moves the gripper). acorn
Just a file for me. I usually choker the gripper down pretty close to closed then put in soft jaws in the vise for filing. I'm a stickler for the bevels being just right though. - Aaron
Jose Cabrera
Ive only filed one gripper and i regret it. My opinion; get a manus adjustable from CPW with a btr handle
Cannon
Use a hand file. A grinder is faster but aluminum gums up any kind of spinning disc like that and grinder wheels are not cheap to replace. Also, CPW is likely going to offer a filing service in the very near future
Jared Goguen
Hand file is the way to go unless you have 2x72 belt grinder with a belt you want to be used solely for aluminium. Flat platen also helps. I have that and I have still hand filed. Just don't make the file job really abrupt. Edit: Also yeah don't use a bench grinder. Ferrous metals can clog the wheel making it over heat and explode. Edited October 20, 2015 by Jared Goguen
wobbler
Hand file, or belt sander with the gummy cleaning stick thing. 20 seconds on the belt, quick clean, repeat.
