DW85 Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Tryed searching for this but couldn't turn up any info...I just got my hands on a York Fatman! It looks like it was repainted at one point in its life and the finish is slick as ever...it won't hold chalk very well at all...My question: Is it acceptable to sand blast the slick paint off and just let the iron season naturally to make for a better surface to hold chalk? Question of "feat purity" I guess you could call it. With the slick paint on it it feels as if I might not be able to make much progress with this brute...can't get much friction going at all. Any input is greatly appreciated. Quote

Maybe we should have a requirement for surface finish, say for instance 63μ" ! Quote Mike Mackenzie. Luceo non uro.

No grooves or lines just slick black paint...looks like the Fatman has a date with the media blaster and a trip to a certified scale. Quote
Jedd Johnson Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Here's my suggestion, like I outline in my Blob ebook...If you're going to modify the Blob/Block in some way that could make it easier to lift, do so in only a small region, away from the main place to grip it. So, in the case of a Blob, you would grip it up around the number or York. For training, you could treat a spot well away from this in order to get a grip. Just my thoughts. 2 Quote The GOLD STANDARD Feat in Plate Pinching: 2x45s Pinch Get Your Copy Here: How to Pinch 2x45s Ebook Diesel Crew Store: http://www.dieselcrew.com/store/shop

Two blobs in one...Once I can lift it in the bare metal spot, then i can train for the slick finish lift. Thanks for the input. Quote
