JoshW
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=app1zKVBb9U The kink felt good and strong but couldn't get in the right position for the last part of the sweep and crush. Regret doing it in doubles now but didn't expect to put a dent in it! This cals at 366lbs @6" so at 5" maybe 390-400lbs?
Frank Pizzo
Great attempt Josh. That's a pretty tough bend @ 5". I think mathematically it comes out to around 484 lbs if I'm remembering the conversions correctly.
Mike Sharkey
Great attempt Josh. That's a pretty tough bend @ 5". I think mathematically it comes out to around 484 lbs if I'm remembering the conversions correctly. remember that when we talk calibrations, we are measuring only the force that it takes the steel to move 30 degrees. how it behaves after that is a different story. sweeping short steel is much harder. the kink on 5" stock (or 6") is a little bit easier too, because you have better leverage position. watching Hannes crush a 5" bar, I think that was 950 or something, was one of the most insane things I've ever seen those that are good at it told me that it requires more wrist strength than bending longer bars. the crush of a 5" grade 5 is going to be quite hard.
JoshW
That would explain why both my wrists ache today! Thank you Frank and Mike! I think if I get it to 90-100 degrees I will have a fair chance of crushing it. Hannes is an absolute beast at short bars!
