Broly Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Finally got my brand spanking new IM Axel and it's insanely smooth and has a like a dirtly oily residue still from out of the box, thinking if I should do a semi force season on this thing or just try and clean it more, Thoughts? Anthony C. Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 I wouldn't season it...best to train on a "worst case scenario" implement than a seasoned one when preparing for comps. That way you're surprised rather than disappointed on contest day Quote
acorn Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Despite how smooth it appears new, it is plenty grippy. Surface is ground. Just get the oil off and chalk up. Quote ** Retired **
climber511 Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Just clean it - brake cleaner is good but really not necessary - good old soap and water work fine. Not sure where I read this but I think in an old IM catalog. Bury it in salt (dry) - it's supposed to do something to the steel and give it a brown patina that is very durable and slows any more rust from forming I guess? Anyone else remember reading this and where it was? 1 Quote When people used to ask him how it was he became so incredibly strong, it was always the same, "strengthen your mind, the rest will follow". Broly Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 Thanks guys. I decided not to force season it. Im just going to clean it till the oil is gone. It has been feeling a little better since I bought it. Really love this thing.
