Painkiller Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 What's up fellow benders. I just recieved my drill rod order from flat stock.com. Price was right and I am looking forward to bending it. Where do you guys get your bending stock? How does this product measure up to other drill rod? Thanks. Quote
EJ Livesey Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Precision Marshall is the best drill rod I've bent. It's very consistent and I know most guys buy from the web site you used. The w1 or red label drill rod I've seen and personally snapped, so be careful. Edited January 17, 2015 by EJ Livesey Quote Junior steel bender in training The only limits are the ones YOU set. Painkiller Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Thank you EJ for the advice. I was only able to find the W 1/4"x1/4" square stock on flat stocks website. The 1/4x1/4 square I was getting at the Home Depot looks the same. We'll see if it feels the same. I will be careful not to snap it. Thanks for the heads up. Quote
king crusher Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 That's where I have bought from twice. Super fast shipping Quote
JaredWith1R Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I buy from McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/). I have bought from both, but I used to order equipment and materials from McMaster in college, so I was already familiar with them. Plus they ship out of NJ by me, so it is always 2 day shipping, and they automatically send out an invoice on your shipping date, with tracking. McMaster and Flat-Stock tend to cost about the same for me. Material price at McMaster is a little higher, but it gets balanced out with shipping costs. They have O1, CRS, HRS, W1, SS, Titanium (if you're into that sort of thing), Round, Rectangular of all sizes, Hex, Tubes, yada yada... Only downfall is that they don't tell you shipping cost until after they receive the order, but its always been UPS ground (about 8-9 USD) for me. Hope this helps. Cheers! Painkiller Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 I've used McMaster also. They have a nice selection. I like the fact that they have more sizes making progressions a bit smoother. Between flat stock and McMaster I think I'll be good for a while. I really wanted to try out fbbc advanced bag of steel. I heard the site might be back up and running soon. Quote
