Jared Goguen
I wonder how long that guy has been bending? Well he's been on YouTube since 2012.
JoshW
Saw this earlier, was going to post this myself. How much harder than 8" gold is this EJ?
EJ Livesey
Saw this earlier, was going to post this myself. How much harder than 8" gold is this EJ? 750-800. I don't understand how inconsistent his bending is. He killed the iron grip 250 bar in 4 mins and this is close or 50lbs heavier. He killed the KOASB faster than this. Maybe he was having an off day. JoshW
Would say it's the different lengths he's been switching between and bending but like you said he killed the 250kg faster and its only slightly weaker. But same length.

Totally agree. His training is a mystery to me. I thought I saw him bend a Gold in IMP's plus DH leathers. Maybe from 10 degrees or something. I know I saw from straight in double IMP's a year ago making that bend the smallest wrap bend of a Gold. A YEAR ago. It didn't even look that hard for him past the kink. Why is he not just working down in wraps? Even if he took an inch off the second wraps once a month he'd have the cert done.
David_wigren
I think it's down to the language barrier thing. I don't think it was a KOASB he was bending in the other video. There are many different types of stainless, and they're not all the same. A true "shiny" needs to be 303 stainless or of similar or harder stainless. Anyone who can crush a 3/8 303 stainless wouldn't struggle at all with the crush of a Gold. It would melt.

I know this because I lathed down a few pieces then confirmed my suspicions with Jerry and Kristine. I do agree there is s huge language barrier issue here. Some Things between Russian and English just don't translate or have no translation.
David_wigren
I haven't been follow it that closely. But are you sure they were the Ironmind Golds and not the Russian gold replicas? Very different in strength

At least we know for sure he has been bending gold nails from the clear gold ends he shows in his videos. The shiny bastard he bent in one imp the other day, was that a legit shiny bastard?? David_wigren
I have no idea. He seems capanle of doing a shiny in one IMP. However if it was an FBBC stainless or 303 stainless, you'd have to ask him. * capable
JoshW
Sorry yes, my mistake a single pad** It did state in the video title FBBC shiny so who knows...

Very different in strength Seems to be IM Golds. Definitely look like them. Maybe Ivan knows. My Russian is, well, worse than my Swedish. I do believe I remember seeing FBBC on some steel but I'm not 100%. There are some videos where they are calibrating steel too.
EJ Livesey
I have no doubts he is strong and capable of bending big stuff. Maybe he was just having an off day. An edgin is my go-to base bend in almost any wraps. But when I'm having a bad day or week I can only wobble them.
Mike Sharkey
EJ I know you've bent the KOAB. Have you ever cut a Gold to 7"? Can you compare them?
EJ Livesey
EJ I know you've bent the KOAB. Have you ever cut a Gold to 7"? Can you compare them? I have not done that. When I get more golds I will give full report. But they can't be as tough as the last batch of KOABs or better know as the bone breakers. You can't tell them apart from the koasb from looking at them.

Also, it varies so so much. I had a Shiny Mitti sent me that was significantly easier than the Bastard I bent earlier that month.
David_wigren
Maybe it was an off day like EJ say. Off days can effect some people more than others. I personally never had any off days where I couldn't at least stay within 90% of my current best bend. If I was bending huge bastards I was never going to struggle with a 7" bastard, unless I was completely trashed or injured. But if that were the case I wouldn't be bending hard, I would try to recover or do some very light work.
