odin
Thank you Blackdog and DW 85! After I started training outdoors for a short time, I committed myself to training outdoors no matter what the weather was like. The only concessions I make are: 1. To use plastic-handled items if there is freezing rain, snow, or unusually cold weather that makes metal objects ice up quickly or just too slippery-but sometimes I am stubborn and just pour boiling water on the Inch's handle or other metal object in order to melt the ice when I'm ready to do a set. 2. Sometimes I will seek a little cover under a tree or a corner of the house with a slight overhang if the rain is really heavy. Once I made this commitment, it seemed like my best days were in "bad" weather, it was just like any other obstacle between me and a goal and it seems difficulties enhance my focus anyway. So, frankly, I wish it would rain, thunder, and snow much more here, because it is strongly fixed in my mind that I will overcome the conditions and have a great day, "nice" weather is boring, unless I'm near the ocean. Also, I think pinch and thickbar lifts feel better to me in cold, clammy conditions-but usually all others who stop by to train with me huddle under the side of the house doing grippers or sledges while I'm out lifting in the rain/snow if it is a "bad" weather day-however, Jason Otto seems to be starting to like it more and more over time.
