bencrush
Strong lift, David! That's an underrated lift. You already know this probably, but experiment with a bunch of different barbells if you can. After a few years training with a cheapie bar, I grew pretty fond of it. And it was actually harder to lift on than any bar I touched in competition. So although it was an ego drainer during training - it was an ego booster in competition. Starting the lift with a slightly flexed wrist helped me lift more. Using a straddle stance helped add a bit more. But not a lot more. I think it was more of a preference thing for my dodgy back than anything. Another thing I did that seemed different than what I heard other guys say was that I didn't actively squeeze the bar. I just cupped the bar and lifted. Seemed like every time I tried to squeeze the bar it hampered the amount of weight I could lift. I don't know if it was because I started with a slightly flexed wrist. Or it could've been something completely unrelated.
