mightyjoe
Here's a blog post I did today on a couple of gripper donations to my grip museum and one of the grippers is a Jubinville gripper which very few people here will have heard of so I thought I would post the link so you can see the actual gripper and learn a little about this rare gripper. http://musselwhitepapers.blogspot.com/ Hope you enjoy the article and pics!!! GatorGrip
Awesome-Your are right I have never heard of this gripper but that book on hand strengthening was a book I got from the library when I first got into grip! Good Read I thought!
David Horne
I have one of the Jubinville grippers (it came from Joe Roark). Joe told me that there were only 100 manufactured. Hope you find this info useful.
Cannon
Apparently I rated that #3? Weird.
mightyjoe
Apparently I rated that #3? Weird. Matt, I have rated 2 other grippers that you also rated and I came up with the same thing so we're good buddy! The adjustable #3 I got from you came out identical to what you got as well. Eric too has cross rated some of your grippers and came up with the same rating. I can't speak for others but I trust your ratings 100% as accurate!!! Hope you find this info useful. I didn't know this David and thanks for sharing this info! At the AAA Nationals in the late 80's or early 90's Ed told me he took one of his Super Grippers to the tournament and offered to give it to anyone who could shut it. Keep in mind this was before anyone knew anything about setting a gripper! Minutes later Richard Lupkes walked through the door after weighing well over 300 lbs and Ed handed him the gripper and said "Here! Try and close this Big Guy!" Richard grabbed the gripper and closed it 3 times in each hand as if it was a cheap Wal-Mart gripper! This really took Ed back a bit! He literally couldn't believe it! Ed said the handles made a metallic click on each rep with both hands. I wasn't present to witness this but one thing about Ed was his accuracy of being a witness to strength feats! If Ed said it happened, by golly it happened! Ed was a very keen strength historian and was informed and knowledgable of physical culture. Physical Culture was the term used back in the old times before the term bodybuilding was coined. Great write-up Joe! Very cool to get donations like that. Great to see you back here Ben!!! Back into Grip buddy?
Sam Scott
Don't attempt to rate that jubinvillle, don't want it to snap.
mightyjoe
Don't attempt to rate that jubinvillle, don't want it to snap. NEVER! Not only will I never attempt to rate this gripper I will not allow others to attempt to close it either. It took me nearly 20 years to finally get one of these back into my hands. They are that rare!
