Eric Roussin
Thanks guys! This was my first time competing in a "four-attempt" contest. The other contests that I've organized, or in which I've competed, have either been "last man standing" format, or simply medleys. I've got to say that four attempts adds a whole other strategic dimension. I, as well as probably everyone who has competed in these types of events, found it challenging to determine which weights to attempt in order to hopefully hit my maximum (or very close to it) on my fourth attempt. Yesterday I experienced situations where I had some gas left in the tank and regretted not having gone for more, as well as situations where I had bitten off a bit more than I could chew. Unlike many others, I at least had experience training on all of the implements and so I had a decent idea of what I should be able to lift on contest day. These decisions would have been much harder otherwise. I was telling competitors who wanted to jump in 5 or 10 lb increments on the half penny lift that it was probably a bad idea. These lower weight lifts can get difficult fast! It was quite an experience and I'm incredibly pleased with my overall result!
