My First Grip Machine - 1989

Here's a pic I placed in my gallery yesterday of my very first grip machine I ever owned:

http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?app=galleryℑ=10710

An arm wrestler from Texas named Jim Tambourine made this in the early 80's some time and sold it to me

in 1989. I had it in storage for years and then several years ago I loaned it to my son Shane so he could

use it for his grip and forearms.

Thursday Shane brought it back to me in pretty rough shape (rusted a little and needing paint) so I cleaned it

up, painted it and placed it in my Museum Of Grip where it will now retire.

I feel very fortunate and lucky to be able to say that I still own my first grippers and my first grip machine!

Cool to keep all these. I have few decent grip equipmemts myself and my goal now is to lift the Inch, my old fat two 45's plates, my easy CoC #4 (yeah maybe in a looong time if I stayed injury free), double fatman blob, Big G8 bend

Edit:- BTW how do you used to use/set it? Seems it was designed for very large handed people

Range of motion can easily be reduced by using wooden blocks on those type of grip machines.

Nice story about the machine Joe!

Thanks Teemu!

That's exactly what I did to shorten the ROM on this unit.

Cool machine! And happy birthday Joe!

Stay young and healthy forever.

Thanks Yori!

I may be 50 but I honestly feel 25 and better and stronger than ever.

In 2004 I weighed nearly 230 lbs. Now I'm at 201 lbs. and can easily get to 198

for arm wrestling tournaments in the Masters Class.

I started arm wrestling with Tommy recently. Thinkin' about dieting down to the 80 kilo class for the amateur division. Joe, do you happen to know where Jim got the idea for the design? I'm curious as to how long that basic design has been around.

Funny you ask this Eric!

Actually I didn't even ask him that question because he told me before I even thought to ask.

He said he got the idea from Bruce Lee's grip machine and built his as identical as possible.

The guy was into martial arts as well.
