Isaiah
How do you properly oil and season a gripper?

Isaiah
Same. Though I did rub some oil on the springs after cleaning them today.
33wes
Vinegar and oil and a dash of salt and pepper. No, seriously, just make sure that dust and chalk haven't accumulated on the spring and hit it with a good lubricant once in a while. yummy
If they start to squeak badly I'll spray some And that will fix the problem usually you can use piece of paper to get between the coil and just a rag work well. I wouldn't try to damage the gripper excessively to make it easier
iamsean11
I use Boeshield T-9. We use it at the shop I work at so I decided to use it on my grippers. I had a problem with some rust spots on all of my springs when I moved home to Chicago due to the humidity change and this took care of the problem. Find yourself a lightweight oil like 5-10 weight and that should suffice. Sean
Autolupus
I have used various oils over time and have found silicone oil to be the best, and the only one which completely eliminates squeak.
33wes
Royal Purple synthetic is my choice. Slippery and lasts a long time.

chilliman64
ditto on the WD40, spray a little on the spring, leave it laying horizontal for a day or two then wipe off the excess and start squeezing.
Shoggoth
I have used various oils over time and have found silicone oil to be the best, and the only one which completely eliminates squeak. I use the silicon as well.
