Why Are Grip Contests Done By Weight Class And Not Hand Size?

I mean if your a shorter guy like say 5'5 or something yet just overweight maybe 200+ yet you have a small hand is it fair you have to compete with say taller guys who naturally will weigh more yet have significantly bigger hands? Especially when most contests have thickbar and pinch events where hand size is an advantage.

Do a search and see if you can find the conversation around this that eventually led to the Collective instituting more weight classes and not going with hand size. There were certainly sound reasons for both ways, but weight classes prevailed (and I'm glad they did).
