Article: Grip Training For Law Enforcement Personnel

Hi guys, I just posted a new article on my website called Functional Grip Training for Law Enforcement Personnel. I know there are several people on the board who are policemen, security guards, prison guards, etc., so I wanted to post a link here as well in case you'd be interested in reading it.

I tried to make this clear in the article, but will re-iterate this here. My first hope would be that you all would never have to get into a violent situation like this, but in many cases it is unavoidable. With that in mind, I put together some innovative training means for grip to match up with some of the situations you might find yourself. These are of course not an exhaustive list, but it is hopefully something that can still help you out.

All the best and stay safe.

Jedd

That was a really great article. For real!

You left out how to win the last doghnut tug-o-war. For joking!

This is the whole reason I started training grip. I was trying to detain someone one day and could feel them slipping out of my hands as they started resisting. After it was all over, I knew I needed to make my hands as strong as I could.

Hopefully some of the stuff in the article has helped you out, as well as some of my other free articles on the site.

Jedd,

Excellent article about grip and law enforcement. I've been a cop in the USAF for almost 8 years in both a military and civilian capacity. I've found that grip strength is a vital asset when dealing with life and death situations and its street value cannot be understated. I have always told rookies that your most important weapon when out on the road is your hands. Thanks for the great article raising awareness - it could save a life.
