What Are Lifting On The 3 Inch Dumbbell These Days?

Matt Brouse

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 or R months back focused on grip training and finding new events and new standards as far what's good on old one... where do we stand with the 3 inch dumbbell deadlift? ...or clean for that matter?

I haven't seen it in many contests save for maybe a medley or two, but...

After a try or two, I've pretty readily launched 144, with near misses at 149 and, today at 151... not sure how that stacks up.

Thank for feedback, gents.

I pulled just over 80# on my ghetto PVC 4" pipe. I have yet to try a 3". Did you make your 3" DB or buy it?

I was messing around with it and seeing how much I could pull with my fingers and thumb pointing straight down and I hit 40# after several weeks trying it.

144 is HUGE on a 3" handle. I would imagine you can pull the inch.

Just toclarify, you do mean a one armed attempt, right?

You're getting some good figures, if that's what you mean!

Yes, Matt was doing 3" DB single hand.

This is the "Inch Trainer" loadable bell (2.47")

This is 3" bar, for the record:

Those are the most recent efforts.

Holy cow. You guys sure can clean some serious weight! Huge deadlifts too.

I looked around, but couldn't find one. Where can you buy an inch trainer?

Thanks!

I'd have to ask ATG but I believe that handle was a custom job.

I figured you might say it was custom. Thanks!
