It all depends on what Elite you have. They all differ. Some arent much harder then a good #3 and others are 3.5 or higher!

The silver spring elites are tough.

Mine is a black spring and it is tougher then my #3s. I have recently closed mine quite easily with quarter inch exntensions.

I close one of mine. It's a black springed one. It's about an average #3.

My Silver Spring Elite on the other hand is very hard and is definitely between a 3 and a 4.

I'm down past the last 1/8 inch, which now marks the tuff zone,.. I've closed four 3's, one really wide hard one, by now and my black spring elite is way harder then any of these.

Closed my black spring Elite, like a hard 3. Closed my silver spring Elite, somewhere between a 3 and a 4.

Heath does strapholds with either of these :yikes , kinda puts things in perspective.

I had a gripper rated about 1/3 between a 3 and a 4 (not IP ratings), and my silver spring elite is much harder. 3.5 at least, and if your hands are small and sweep sucks, it can even be harder than the 4.
