Norden
Are you "supposed" to have a slick finish on for example a 2" v-bar? I understand that there's no rule for this, but I mean, how is it on like contests and stuff? Are the bars sandpapered or anything? It doesn't seem to be any reason to use chalk on slick things, and from all different kinds of v-bar pics and videos I've seen it seems to be alot of chalk involved. Mikael Siversson
There are no rules, as you say, regarding vbars for general training. There are, however, rather strict rules if you use, say, LGC vbars and want your competition results recognised in records lists etc. For the latter, and FBBC vbars, no sandpaper etc. Simply season them by using them. Should not be too difficult for you to obtain an original 25mm or 50mm LGC vbar as they are made in Sweden. When you first get one you can grab a block of chalk and work your way around the bar where you hold it (there are specific rules for where you are allowed to hold it in competition, max 5cm from the top of the bar to the hand). Scott Styles
The "seasoning" cakes the metal in chalk and makes the top of the bar pretty rough. It is nothing like slick metal.
