mike60975
Some really interesting plates (and history) on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Zuvers-Hall-Fame-Gym-50-lb-Weight-Plates-Non-York-Barbell-Strongman-/220896586680?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336e766bb8 Unfortunately once the auction is over the Ebay post will be deleted, along with the pics and links, so I copied the links below: http://www.davedraper.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/18663/ http://www.titanstrengthandpower.com/history_of_powerlifting_part_13.html http://www.strengthoftheword.com/?page_id=17 http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=375685.25 http://www.oldtimestrongman.com/blogs/new-blog/2011-08/29-374-big-wheel-zuvers-hall-fame-gym http://davedraper.com/blog/2008/01/23/dr-ken-leistner-memories-zuver%E2%80%99s-hall-of-fame-gym/ (seemed to have the most info) Hopefully someone will copy and post the pictures too (sorry, I don't know how to do this) Anyone care to take a guess at how much these plates will end up selling for? I'll take a shot in the dark and say $1200.
mike60975
Well I was just a little off on my guess of $1200. They sold for $4263.00! Somebody really wanted those plates (actually there were 2 bids over $4000). Anyway congrats to whoever won them (wonder if they are a Gripboard member). mike60975
I was supprised this topic didn't get any more interest here on the Board, some very unique plates and gym equipment, to say nothing of the gym owner. Steve, did you ever lift at Zuver's gym?
Steve B.
Mike, No i did not and i'm sorry i didn't but had a few friends that did. Interesting note is Zuver 100lb plates were used at one of the world strongest man contest for the wrist roll event around the late 70's. Edited December 30, 2011 by Steve B.
