Gift2k1
In case anyone was curious, a guy over on Davids forum calibrated his chrome spring on the V2. Interesting results I think. I guess it's just the set but damn some of these numbers seem low compared to the feel of my spring. I can barely close level 12 yet I can close a #2 for a good 5 or 6 reps. Vulcan V2 Chrome Spring - Level 27 / 89.5 kg / 197.6 lbs / rating = 3.80 - Level 26 / 85,5 kg / 188,75 lbs / rating = 3.66 - Level 25 / 84.5 kg / 186.5 lbs / rating = 3.62 - Level 24 / 79.5kg / 175.5 lbs / rating = 3.43 - Level 23 / 76 kg / 167.59 lbs / rating = 3.30 - Level 22 / 74.5 kg / 164.45 lbs / rating = 3.25 - Level 21 / 70,5 kg / 155,60 lbs / rating = 3,09 - Level 20 / 67 kg / 147.9 lbs / rating = 2.95 - Level 19 / 65,5kg / 144.6 lbs / rating = 2.87 - Level 18 / 61,5 kg / 135,75 lbs / rating = 2.64 - Level 17 / 57kg / 125.82 lbs / rating = 2.40 - Level 16 / 56.5 kg / 124.72 lbs / rating = 2.37 - Level 15 / 52.5 kg / 115.89 lbs / rating = 2.15 - Level 14 / 48.5kg / 107.5 lbs / rating = 1.89 - Level 13 / 48 kg / 105.96 lbs / rating = 1.85 - Level 12 / 44 kg / 97.13 lbs / rating = 1.52 - Level 11 / 40,5kg / 89,40 lbs / rating = 1.24 - Level 10 / 39kg / 86.09 lbs / rating = 1.11 - Level 9 / 36 kg / 79,47 lbs / rating = 0.85 - Level 8 / 33.5kg / 73.95 lbs / rating = 0.62 - Level 7 / 33.5kg / 73.95 lbs / rating = 0.62 - Level 6 / 31 kg / 68,4 lbs

macaz
I just noticed our results are very similar after I "seasoned" the spring by opening it at higher levels. Our Level 27 results are spot on. My 1st calibration numbers were from the spring when it was 1st received. Are your #s after it had been opened at upper leveles?

Matti may be writing them because starting at a higher level....maybe. I would guess they would close it a few times just to even it out a bit. Very close numbers by the way. Jedd Johnson
Is this the Crom Spring? I thought they were writing it "Crom." I didn't realize it was chrome.
Gift2k1
Hey Rich - Thanks for adding your results! I feel a little better seeing how much higher some of your "pre-seasoned" numbers are. My spring is definitely unseasoned so I feel your results better reflect the difficulty of mine. This spring is just destroying my setting finger. I got a ways to go still. You're absolutely right about the "seasoned" numbers being so close. My assumption is the results I posted are with a "seasoned" spring, but I don't know for sure. However, just to be clear, these results don't belong to me. They were posted by "matti heiskanen" over in this thread: http://www.davidhorne-gripmaster.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=173&p=19266&hilit=calibration#p19315 Jedd - Yea, these results are for the new "CROM" spring that shipped with your latest batch of V2s. It is indeed chrome plated. Gotta give it a fun name I suppose.
macaz
After setting the V2 you will be very strong at setting. Keep in mind your #s will be lower on the V2 because the hardness of the gripper is hard throughout the entire close. With the torsion spring grippers it starts easy and ramps up in hardness as it closes.
BGally
Not easy to compare the vulcan to torsion-spring grippers with RGC ratings it seems
Bill Piche
I got a Vulcan now and my take is you are comparing apples to oranges with regular grippers. It's so much harder to set than a regular gripper especially due to how wide it is at the start. "After setting the V2 you will be very strong at setting." I can resonate with this for sure. In just a bit of time working the vulcan, going back to a regular TSG feels like nothing for a wide set.
