OldGuy
Is anyone here able to, or is training to break a 60 D nail or an Ironmind blue? I have been working on it recently. I bend the nail as far as I can but still leaving room to put my fingers in to pull it open. I am close to breaking one, but am not quite strong enough to pull the nail as far back open as I would like. A few more weeks and I believe it will be done. It is an intense and tiring workout. tmmicklabs
Great job on the Ironmind Blue. Is Tom Black able to bread the Blue ? Isn't there a Yellow Nail also ?
OldGuy
The yellow is the same as the blue nail except it is 7'' and not 6''.
tmmicklabs
Is the Blue the hardest one they sell then ? Or is there a Red one ?
OldGuy
The red. Presumably it is thicker or harder metal than the blue.
Rick Walker
Oldguy- I have snapped a white and a green Yellow and beyond is being reserved for later Rick Walker
RSW
The red. Presumably it is thicker or harder metal than the blue. That is an understatement.
Gripper42004
"Bender53" has broke 60d's & 14in. X 3/8 spikes!
Arne
Georges Christen from Luxembourg is maybe as good as John Brookfield in bending. I would not be surprised after having seen his some of his bending feat. I think that he can bend "the Red".
jimwylie1
Breaking a 60D isn't that hard. Just keep bending it backwards and forwards and it breaks eventually.
Tom Black
Some steel is more "brittle" and can break with very few back and forth bends. Some things that are tempered aren't meant to bend at all so when they do they break instead (the best example of this is a file). I can snap one particular brand of "pole barn nail" in the first bend. I broke a Yellow once, seemed like it took upwards of 30-bends. I broke something equivalent to an Ironmind blue, but I don't think I ever tried on an actual Ironmind blue bar (I ran out a long time ago, although I might have some yellows I could cut down). To me breaking cold rolled steel or more "ductile" steel is more of an endurance feat so I don't train that way much.
OldGuy
I was thinking along the lines that breaking, or trying to break a blue nail would be such a good workout that It would make me much stronger nail bender. Also I would get much more use out of each nail.
bender
I've broken a number of Greens fairly easily, and after your suggestion a while back OldGuy, made a few attempts at breaking a 60D... My bending endurance proved to be nowhere near my max effort bends. To anybody who can break a good 60D, hats off to you.
amaury
I didn't try to break 60Ds even if i was able to bend them fairly easily (but broke a few green and white nails) and I don't think that i would have been able to break a yellow nail even in a few hours time. IMO the "unbend" movement can be trained specifically. Amaury. PS: I haven't bent nails since the beginning of KTA and i miss it
OldGuy
I think the secret is opening the nail to at least 90 degrees. This is not easy of course.
