hellswindstaff
I know this isn't grip but I thought that someone could share some incite... Does anyone know anything about the reputations about these companies... I want to buy cheap squat stands and this is what I've narrowed my search to: http://www.amazon.com/Squat-Rack-H-D-Adjustable-Racks/dp/B004GFK1YU/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1317025930&sr=8-7 http://www.amazon.com/Christians-Fitness-Factory-CFF-SS-Stands/dp/B004ARP4LE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1317025930&sr=8-5 http://www.amazon.com/TDS-C-93132-W-Squat-Rack/dp/B001HS3KI8/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1317026292&sr=8-17 I'm a little weary of the second one because the two stands are standing independent of one another, but I've heard good things about NY barbell's product quality. Anyone have any input?
climber511
Lots of factors determine the final quality of a set of squat stands (or any other equipment). Design of course, quality of steel etc used, thickness of steel used, welding quality, any additional pieces and parts used (nuts and bolts etc). All of these can vary not only from company to company but from item to item within a company - but generally what you will find is that the cheaper equipment will be made from thinner steel and not be as heavy duty. Much of it will be made in China etc and may be metric in size – this doesn’t matter of course unless you want to add something on at some point that is made with Inch measurement stock. Used in a home gym setting I imagine any of those shown would work just fine with moderate weights. Look at the specs on steel gauge for starters. hellswindstaff
I didn't really plan on putting over 500lbs on it.
