It isn't magic....the ball acts to "pin" the musculature where it is, just allowing you to elongate it without stressing the origin- where the problem is. No different than the "tennis elbow" braces/supports you see with the air bladder on them. It is just pressure. A muscle is a muscle. A lot of this mumbo jumbo is just to generate interest.
