Jonathan McMillan
I thought this was an interesting idea: http://www.fingerweight.com/sports/sports_specs.asp Has anyone tried to attach weights to individual fingers like that as oppose to eagle loops, ring lifts etc? gollan
It is an interesting idea and I can sort of see them working to increase explosive finger strength. The drawback is that the weights are fixed at a rather light at 15 grams (just under 1/2 ounce). I think we grip enthusiasts would need plate loadable finger weights! Jonathan McMillan
Gollan, Exactly, its an interesting idea but the manufacture is pretty skimpy with the weight chosen. Although it might be enough for an endurance type effort. ie. imagine wearing them all day as you work and go about life in general....like a Steve Justa training concept. The Gripster
Not to bust chops, but to inform, 15 grams is a bit over not under 1/2 ounce. An ounce is 28 grams.
bseedot
First, these things are marketed to basketball players, not lower arm strength trainers. They're said to improve free throw percentage, shooting distance, ball handling, etc. Also, these go on the back of the fingers (i.e. extensor side) so it's not the same kind of 'lift' (affect) as Eagle Loops or ring lifts. So I guess I wouldn't expect them to do much for folks like us... Huh... looks like they also have a 'health' model and a 'music' model. Maybe now there's still hope for my guitar career BC. Jonathan McMillan
I think they would mainly hit the extensors. Yes, 15grams is puny, but maybe it's a matter of leverage where they are situated... ...I think a homemade heavier version of it might be a unique way of training the extensors.
