Pinch Difficulty Comparison

I don't have a Euro Pinch device and have been practising my two hand pinch using a 2x4. Does anyone know how these two compare? If I can lift 200 lbs using the 2x4, does this mean I could probably lift 200 lbs using the Euro Pinch? If I would likely be able to lift less with the Euro Pinch, how much less?

Impossible to answer accurately. It depends on the seasoning of the Euro and the type and texture of the wood block. I'd say in general a well seasoned Euro is much easier than a 2x4. Maybe 20% more on a Euro but thats a really rough guess.

That comparison isn't just about texture - tilt plays a big role and depending on your setup, how easy (or not) it might be to tilt the 2x4. You can get a much better idea of how you might do on a Euro by using a couple thin plates with a pipe thru it to more closely duplicate the feel of the Euro.

The mechanics of these two lifts are so different that they yield very little cross-over.

For instance, Adam Glass can do nearly 250 on a pinch bar, similar to pinching on a board, and has hit only about 200 on the euro.

Obviously 200 is great on the euro, not taking anything away from my buddy Adam. I am just saying, the differences are HUGE.

I do single hand lifts with a 2x4, and with 2x35s plus weight added with a pvc pipe. I can do the same exact weight on both, however I can get more tilt on the 2x4 due to the easier leverage. Without the tilt the 2x4 is much harder for me.
