I understand the concept of chalk to help keep the hands from slipping on the apparatus but I notice a lot of gripper closure pictures have chalk. I don't understand the use of chalk with a gripper. Since the idea is to CRUSH the gripper, it doesn't seem possible for it to slip out of the hand. Is there another reason to use chalk on a gripper?
