Hook Grip - Athletic Tape?

Recommended Posts

I recently started doing some hook grip deadlifts again, now that my overhand grip is becoming my limiting factor. For the more experienced of you, do you prefer to put athletic tape on the thumb or is it better to work through the pain? And does anyone know if athletic tape is allowed in powerlifting competitions? I'm not at that level, but plan to be one day and would like to train accordingly.

Thanks.

Your thumb will get used to it and it won't bother you any more. Tape will offer a bit more friction - it's legal in Olympic Lifting but I have no idea about power lifting - to many feds to keep track of.
