OTTOEMEZZO
I am able to close #3 with a choker on, but #3.5 still seems like a brick. I am looking for a gripper that's right between #3 and #3.5. My thought was BB Elite, but it seems like it is pretty close to #3.5, juding by RGC ratings. What would you recommend? Cannon
I've rated Elites as low as 155 (MM1 replicas for example) and also up to high 170s. You could order an MM1 or MM2 replica from GSS. Also consider a 5/8" handle BBGM. You're essentially looking for a gripper in the 160-170 range and they are hard to find. If you're not closing your #3 yet I would go with the MM1replica. It will likely be 160ish.
Magnus
Why not work on closing the #3 without the choker?
timstruse
You might contact Wade at Gripper Superstore. A while ago he was selling calibrated BBE's at 164# and 165#. They cost a little bit more, but at least you know exactly what you're getting. I bought one of the #164's and it was spot on. Not sure if he still has any around. Force
Beef Builder Grand Elite narrow is on average ~164 lbs (sample of 8 grippers). When Average #3 is ~152lbs and #3.5 ~177lbs, GE narrow is very likely to be between CoC #3 and #3.5.

I think Wade's ratings were admittedly (sp?) lower because he used a slightly different process or something? I can't remember exactly what he said, but recall that his were lower for some reason. Six Barrel Shotgun
My first step from my "easy" CoC #3 was RB300N.
Geralt
Why not look for an adjustable gripper? There are now all sorts of variatons on the market and they all seem to bee very good? I've got very good results with mine, which I moderated with an now in-build choker mechanism. works great and saves a lot of money. You can save that money for buying your next goal gripper now and then... Edited October 23, 2010 by Geralt
