AlexR
I took my coc 1 to work yesterday,I have a friend that has only just got into training with weights, and we have had many an interesting conversation on my grip training fascination.Passed my 1 around and nobody could close it except this guy,so I brought in a 2 today, and he closed it second attempt. This was quite something to see So I gave him my 1 and 2 to train with,as he has totally impressed me,as it took me a while to close the 2. Its great to see natural talent, once in a while,as he is only 20 and never worked a manual labour job, only retail work.
Benedikt Farsmann
I've seen two kind of people who could close a #1 first try from a no-set. 1. No matter what their lifting experiance or job was if they had large hands they could close it. For example my brother who never does sports and who has an office job but huge hands. 2. People with a manual labour job like roofers, forestry workers or installers (Handed my #1 to them) I bet many can close a #1 with a set, at least those who really try. I guess some guys at your office also gave up to early - People don't care about grippers most of the time or just stop when it gets harder towards the close. That's the way it is. Your right,it was his close of the 2 that impressed me though,I am pushing him to train his grip
Benedikt Farsmann
Good luck with that! Tell him about the certifications and that only few accomplish them - maybe that will draw interest!
AlexR
I gave him a few web links to look at hoping it will draw his interest, but I think the bug has bitten already

daniel reinard
Impressive close. That's what got me serious about grippers. I was able to close the #2 and with the #3 so close I made it a goal to cert it. I have only found one person to close the #1. I'm sure where I work I could find some more, but so far that's the best I've seen.
Legendofjd3
Great story. After spending time here and watching YT vids of guys smashing the #3 or higher we tend to forget how hard the #1 is for the average person.

Geralt
So true. Haven't met someone in my area that can close the #1, while I closed it 2 years ago right out of the package without any prior griptraining. Here on the board however I feel like a puny flea... Shoggoth
I was at a campout a few weeks back and bent some shoes, grippers, a deck of bikes, etc. and one of the guys there with a little coaching reverse bent a gr5 to about 15 degrees. That impressed me a lot.
OTTOEMEZZO
Yes, it's funny how what we do here seems impossible to people who are not into grip, while even closing a #3 does not seem like a huge feat on the Gripboard. What I mean is that many people here have the MM0 or CoC certifications, but in real life, you will be lucky to meet 1 or 2 people with that kind of grip power in your life. It's definitely motivating to be on the Gripboard with so many grip monsters. Though it is a little discouraging at times, I think it's important to never give up even when others progress faster than you.
