Block Weight Paint

Anyone here use a paint thinner to remove the paint from blobs or hex heads? If so what did you use?

I made a block weight with a hex head and used a dremel to sand the paint off. I ended up smoothing out the surface of the metal a bit. I would like to be able to keep the natural texture of the metal and remove the paint at the same time.

If you want to strip and repaint it flat black rustoleum, its probally the best paint. Don't use latex paint on it, because it will either rust through, rub or scratch off. Its your block weight make it however you wish, you can strip it and then put it in your gas grill on high and close the lid for about a half hour or more, wire brush it, then turn off the grill, use a paint brush and apply bleach and it will cure it nice and black and its almost like a blue job on a gun but not the same exaxtly, then you shouldn't need to paint it. Plus it will bake off any oils on it.

Dang Parris - I never thought about using the gas grill - that sounds like a great idea!
