Ben mentioned the 275 lb thumbless deadlift, but left out a few details. Like 10 new USAWA Records!!!!! Great article above about the USAWA Clark's Gym Record Day. It was held November 22nd, 2009 at Clark's Gym, Columbia, Missouri.

Here are the records Ben set. Way to go Ben!!! great to see a "Grip Guy" do so well.

Records:

Ben Edwards - 215 lbs, 34 years old

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 1 bar, 1", Left Hand = 315 lbs.

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 1 bar, 1", Right Hand = 255 lbs.

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 2 bars, 1" = 410 lbs.

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 1 bar, 2", Left Hand = 235 lbs.

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 1 bar, 2", Right Hand = 210 lbs.

Vertical Bar Deadlift - 2 bars, 2" = 366 lbs.

Deadlift - Fulton Dumbbell, Left Arm = 165 lbs.

Deadlift - Fulton Dumbbell, Right Arm = 165 lbs.

Deadlift - 2 Fulton Dumbbells = 310 lbs.

Deadlift - No Thumb, Right Arm = 275 lbs.

Hey thanks Mike and all you guys! I always think about how much fun even grip-specific guys would have at these contests. There is so much on those record lists that is just tailor made for us to unleash the grip beast on. :D

Those are some great lifts. The vbar is to full lockout with no rotation, so think about that long and hard when reading about the 1" stuff. :cry

Ben's always been too modest, but that's a good thing. Everyone that knows him or has competed against him knows & appreciates the man he is. Congrats!

Not only is Ben STRONG & Humble, he's very helpful to others.
