Back to back 35's comes the closest to a standard euro set up. If not try using 45's

Rico Parris - probably 9 out of 10 guys use 54mm or 2 1/8" as their chosen width. Most plates I have seen are much closer to 2 1/2" (64mm) though so if you have two that give you 54 - you should be good to go. As far as what you can do - visit a steel retailer and show them some pictures - I'm sure they can help you out easily - if not all that cheaply. There are several ways to make a pinch setup though that don't cost an arm and a leg once you determine what width you want.

Luke (lukeamdman) used some paint stripper to take the finish off his 35s and expose the bare steel for the small area where you actually touch the plates. You can also file the edge over a little to make them friendlier on your thumb webbing. It worked like a charm for him. I think he has pulled around 200# on that setup. My fault, you were right it is 64 mm , yea I can't even get over 200 like this, I may use my ends for my 13" log since I haven't welded it together yet. And plywood guts. But I had those set aside for that peoject and really don't want to rob peter to pay paul for this project. Parris
