Did Some More Bending Couple Nights Ago

Well, I've been busy with other things the past 6 months or so and only doing a few hit and miss bends but now I'm free once again to pursue bending without fear of injury so I thought I'd see how much I'd lost if any.

My previous PR with O-1 drill rod (5/16) was 7 inches and it was pretty hard. I wrapped up a 7 incher with wraps that are under the 1.25 inch even wrapped around a bar and probably killed it in under 30 seconds. Cut one to 6.5 inches and I'm not sure how long it took me because I kept crushing it to under 1.5 inches but I did get it fairly quick to under 2 inches. My new PR for drillrod and possibly my best unbraced bend ever.

I also picked up some 1045 1/4 CRS and man that stuff is crazy. Shame you can't hardly find 5/16 in that steel because it would be a great bend. Ben is right that it's almost like a G5 only without the spring.

Braced bending is off right now mainly because my braced pads are all chewed up and my hands aren't used to taking that kinda pressure right now. I have bent a few tough 80ds and took a tough piece of 12mm HRS (not Mark's stuff, this is about 12.3mm and is about like some of the easier 1/2 inch) at 8 inches to under 90 degrees before my hands felt shot.

Nice to know I'm not having to start all over.

Superb news Tim! Very glad and surprised that you came back after such a long layoff and beat your PR unbraced bend! Very nice!

Congrats on your PR, and i'm sure your hands will get used to the pressure again pretty quick.

Re-visited longbar bending last night. Nothing major but I did take down the ol' 3/4 by 48 inch bar with plenty to spare. Haven't done the pulling style in a long time so that kinda brought back the old memories.

Thanks guys!
