Pre-kinking Bars

I'm slowly getting back into DO bending and want to play with some pre-kinked 8mm CRS & semi-bright bars until I get my shoulder flexibility/strength back.

Can anyone advise some good methods of pre-kinking 6.5"-7" bars to say 25-40 degrees so that I'll wind up with bars that will be very, very close to symmetrical once bent?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Vice grip and some elbow grease will work just fine. Good Luck with the isos

I put two 10# weight plates on the ground about 6" apart. Put the 7" bar I wanted to kink on top of the plates (1/2" of each end resting on each plate). Then I held another bar on top, centered and perpendicular to the bar I was kinking. Held the bar there in the center of the bar to be kinked and hit it with a sledge hammer using my other hand. That was good for a kink up to 30 degrees.

I mark the center of the bar, and then stick it up to that point in a 1" diameter hole in my power rack. Then I use a cheater bar (a hollow steel tube about 2 foot long and 5/8" diameter) to bend it to any degree I want. If I'm bending it to more than 45 degrees I put a little less of the bar in there...not quite up to the center mark in other words. I've bent so many that it's just second nature to get almost a perfect positioning each time.

Just mail the steel to Paul. He'll kink it for you and have it back within a week.
